Athletics Canada Hosts Virtual 10k Championships

Natasha Wodak and Justin Kent won the first ever Virtual 10k Canadian Championships On July 1. Runners had a 6 hour window to complete their race, and will track their run with a GPS and video. Everyone raced on their own course, and had a home field advantage, and it will be interesting to see how events like this get integrated into the sport in the future.

Allison Grace Morgan breaks Beer Mile world record!

As with most races lately , the Beer Mile World Classic pivoted to a virtual format, with all competitors filming videos of their races and submitting them between June 21 and 27, with the top 10 videos being played simultaneously to stream the “race” to see who the winner would be. Grace Morgan drank her 4 beers 30 seconds faster than the previous record holder, and that was enough to secure the record, despite slightly slower running! She actually ran 3 races in the submission time frame, and submitted her fastest to go home with the record.

Mike Wardian runs 130 Miles across the state of Delaware

He ran the length of the state to launch his virtual fundraiser called “Do the Delaware 96” where participants can run the length (96miles) or width (35 miles). You can find out more about the fundraiser here.
